Hurricane Dean
In the early morning hours of Tuesday, August 21, Hurricane Dean made landfall between the towns of Mahahual and Chetumal on the Costa Maya, far south of the Riviera Maya towns of Playa del Carmen, Akumal, Tulum, etc. Members of our staff have surveyed and requested damage reports from many resort properties, both on the Riviera Maya and Costa Maya, and will continue to collect fresh data to update our hurricane damage status page (link below). Due to the large number of properties that we represent it will take us time to determine the exact status of each facility. If you are inquiring about a new reservation, please understand that we are also in damage assessment mode. We will respond to you as quickly as we can, usually within 24 hours. For those of you who have existing reservations, we will email you as soon as we have additional information that effects you. Guests with existing reservations will be prioritized according to their arrival dates. Those arriving in August and early September will be contacted first. Based on preliminary reports, we do not expect reservations for early September and beyond to be affected. Reservations for earlier than that may be fine as well but it is too soon to tell. We are making every effort to update our information and notify our clients of changes that affect them. Once things settle down we can address any questions that you may have in regards to your future stay. Thank you for your understanding and patience. Communicating with us:
Future reservations: Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years and 2008 reservations: The Riviera Maya had minimal damage from Hurricane Dean. With some clean up and minor repairs all our rental properties and resorts will be back functioning fully, if they are not already. Our sister coastal area, the Costa Maya, suffered major damages, especially the sea front town of Mahahual. There are several aid efforts underway and a hurricane relief fund has been started to help the Costa Maya. You may make a donation to support Hurricane Dean relief efforts.
